More injury news for the New Orleans Saints as wide receiver Michael Thomas will now miss the remainder of the season after having a setback rehabbing an injured ankle, ESPN reported early Wednesday morning.

Thomas, 28, announced the news himself via Twitter.

Thomas initially sustained the injury in Week 1 of the 2020 season and then missed nine games. As the All-Pro wideout summarized in his tweet, he worked with the medical staff to bounce back after surgery but hit a snag in his rehabilitation.

It is a bit unclear what the setback in his rehab entails, especially with some outlets claiming Thomas has a new injury altogether. Nevertheless, Thomas will miss the remainder of the 2021 season.

It’s a huge blow for New Orleans, as it was learned earlier this week they will be without quarterback Jameis Winston for the rest of the season due to a knee injury. Winston had to be carted off the field during last Sunday’s 36-27 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
